The BIOPAMA third data webinar series: recording available

The webinar addressed the question: how to bring together data from many different sources, to generate useful evidence for conservation and make it accessible to decision makers?

The speakers for this webinar were:

  • Dr Tiwonge I. Mzumara – Gawa, Lecturer in Ecology at the Malawi University of Science and Technology, and ornithologist at Museums of Malawi. Dr Gawa will present key results and lessons learnt from the Mapping Biodiversity Priorities project for Malawi.
  • Beryl Nyamgeroh,  BIOPAMA technical officer and developer for Eastern and Southern Africa. Ms Nyamgeroh will explain how RCMRD’s spatial data expertise and infrastructure can support biodiversity-relevant data sharing and re-use in the BIOPAMA Regional Resource Hub.
  • Ngugi Kimani, Global Information Technology Lead at RCMRD. Mr Kimani participates in the arrangement of data and applications systematically to provide convenient access for all and he manages RCMRD servers and datasets.
  • Dr Lucy Bastin, Developer and analyst for the Digital Observatory for Protected Areas (DOPA) at the Joint Research Centre (JRC) of the European Commission. Dr Bastin is the JRC focal point for the BIOPAMA programme in Eastern Africa.
