The Biodiversity and Protected Areas Management (BIOPAMA) Programme is offering a one week training for terrestrial-focused protected areas professionals, which is scheudled for 6-11 July 2015, in Trinidad.

BIOPAMA’s capacity building efforts in the Caribbean aim to improve the region’s protected area management capacity through the professional development of protected areea personnel and expansion of the network of protected areas professionals involved in biodiversity conservation and protected areas management.

Towards this end, a one week training course is being offered for terrestrially-focused protected areas professionals. The training, scheduled for 6-11 July, 2015 in Trinidad, will cover
• stakeholder engagement and developing partnerships for PA management;
• participatory protected areas design and management planning;
• developing sustainable livelihoods; and
• protected areas relevant law (basic legislation and principles; regulation, compliance & enforcement and financing).

The training will be delivered by the Caribbean Natural Resources Institute (CANARI) and IUCN. A Spanish version of this training will be implemented at a date to be determined. Full funding is available for applicants from the BIOPAMA Caribbean countries. Applicants from other Caribbean territories are invited to apply but are not eligible for funding assistance from BIOPAMA.
